Lost But Not Forgotten

“Come on Reagan,” said her brother Jimmy, coughing from the exhaust of hover cars zooming high above them. “Let’s get out of here.”

“I know it’s here somewhere…” Reagan mumbled in reply, still searching in the rubbish. Her face was smeared with grime from the street. From a dusty alley, a group of streetwalkers watched them silently. Jimmy kept a wary eye on them.

“Reagan, it’s not safe down here.”

“Found it!” Her gleeful shout rang through the street. “See? It’s still here. Route 66, just like Great Gran said.”

Jimmy sighed. “Then let’s get this adventure started, shall we?”
